Wanted: 1,812 stories about the year 1812

black and white Two men row a boat in Wales under a 3d sign Wanted 1812Citizens of the World!  Your mission awaits!

At Ptara, we are looking for 1,812  stories connected with people, places, things and events from the year 1812.

We have found new voices to help us tell these stories, and we are looking for more.  Writers, artists, musicians, photographers, filmmakers, book reviewers, poets or anyone else with a love of history is welcome.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tell the world a story that happened in the year 1812.

Tell your story in your own way, through your own medium.  (It can be anything from a street performance to an interactive digital display.)

Tell us about what happened where you live, or in your field, or any story from the year 1812 that grabs your fancy.

(Stories may be about events anywhere in the world connected with the year 1812.  They will be added to Ptara’s 1812 timeline.)

Please send all stories in text format to james.grey.jackson@ptara.com or contact Vasco Phillip de Sousa through LinkedIn or Facebook.  If you wish to become a regular contributor to ptara, please say so.

Ideal word length for a written story is from 200 to 1812 words.

Deadline for stories is 10 days before the anniversay of the event.  (For example, for stories related to the Spanish Constitution of 1812, which was proclaimed at Cadiz on the 19th March, the deadline is 9th of March 2012.)

As the search for stories was not announced until January 2012, all January and February stories will be considered until the end of the month.

We look forward to seeing your stories!
